Personal Support Worker
Lijet Respite Home is seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our team. As a PSW, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality, personalized care and support to individuals and families in need. Your focus will be on assisting loved ones with daily activities, promoting a safe and comfortable environment, and supporting them in maintaining their dignity and independence.

Reports To: Respite Care Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with Daily Living Activities: Provide support with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and other personal care needs, ensuring loved ones’ comfort and dignity.
- Medication Assistance: Help with medication reminders and follow care plans under supervision.
- Monitor and Report: Observe the physical, emotional, and mental health of loved ones, and report any significant changes to the Respite Care Coordinator or healthcare team.
- Companionship and Emotional Support: Engage in conversations, activities, and hobbies to support their mental and emotional well-being.
- Household Assistance: Assist with light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, tidying, and meal preparation to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Mobility Support: Aid with safe mobility and transfers, utilizing mobility aids and ensuring proper body mechanics.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily activities, observations, and changes in health status.
- Emergency Response: Act quickly and effectively in emergency situations, following protocols to ensure the safety of loved ones.
Qualifications
- Education: Completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker certificate program or equivalent experience (compulsory).
- Experience: Prior experience working in a caregiving or support role, especially with children, youth, or individuals with disabilities, is an asset.

Requirements
- Certifications: Food Safety Certificate, Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background Check: Successful completion of a background check, including vulnerable sector screening.
- Availability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call, as needed to support families and loved ones.
- Class 5 Drivers License
